Travel in March

March has been a little bit of a crazy month at our house. For the first two weeks I was away in Brunswick, George at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC). It was a great training opportunity and I am so glad I went. I am now a fully trained and certified IRS instructor, whatever that means. But it is a certification I've wanted for a while because a lot of other advanced training, I've been wanting to take, seems to require it. Now we just have to wait and see what opportunities become available and go with the flow.

Because of Dave's school schedule my mom came up from Brownsville to help with the boys. Can't imagine what we would have done without her. I know I wouldn't have been able to go to GA and I am so grateful for her willingness to help out.

Dave had a great opportunity to go to New Orleans for five days in late March for the American Counseling Assoiciation (ACA) Conference being held there. He did some volunteer work as part of the Katrina cleanup (didn't that happen like over five years ago, I'm just saying) got to hear some great speakers and rub elbows with other counselors. He also got to tour the WWII museum and Civil War museum (so glad I wasn't there) which he loved.

So all in all the month of March saw us all over the south. But truly there is no place like home!

Dodgers Baseball

We signed Hayden up to play t-ball baseball this year and he got assigned to the Dodgers team. We started out with a couple of practices and things seem to be going okay, well at least I am enjoying watching them. Even if Hayden doesn't like it in the long run the entertainment value for me of watching five year olds try to play baseball has been well worth the investment.

On March 26th we had a parade to kick off the opening of the season. Hayden got his uniform and he looked so cute.Coach Mike had the boys (and one girl) ride in the back of his truck and throw candy. I must say the whole parade thing was much more organized than I anticipated and I was pleasently surprised. I made the Dodger signs that went on the side of Coach Mike's truck. I was quite pleased with myself.

The parade ended at Kirby park and they had the opening ceremonies, which lasted way longer than they should have, but the kids all did really well.

We got to go home and get some rest and then it was back to the park for our first game. Hayden got to hit several times . . .

And he made it to first base. . . Then second . . .

And even made it into home plate. . .

Where he got a high five from Coach Mike.

And at the end of the game the obligatory "good game" hand slap.

Hayden has decided he likes baseball. He really likes hitting the ball. Now all we have to do is work on his throwing (cause he throws like a girl) and his attention span while in the outfield (he tends to wander both physically and mentally).

So here to the start of a great season.

Patience is a virtue!!

Patience is not one of my strong points. It is something the Lord has been trying to teach me for sometime now. So I am trying to take these lessons into stride. I found some bowls at Target that I really, really wanted. They weren't really expensive bowls, but they cost more than I wanted to spend. So I decided to wait and see if I could find them on clearance. And my patience paid off. I was a Target shopping for a few necessities and low and behold I found my bowls on sale for half price. Score me! I've also been wanting to replace my utensils for quite sometime. I like a nice heavy fork. I also wanted a simple pattern but something which was slightly unique. I found an Oneida pattern on the Internet that I really liked before Christmas, but couldn't justify buying it for myself at the time. Especially because it cost over $200 for the full set with the serving pieces. So I looked around and found them at Overstock.com for a really good price, but alas they were out of stock. I put my email address in and they said they would contact me when they got more in stock. Again my patience paid off. I got an email the other day from Overstock and they had my utensils in stock and they were on sale for under $100 including tax and shipping. YAHHH me!

So now not only do I have my pretty new and colorful bowls I have these great new utensils too. Patience truly is a virtue and slowly the Lord is teaching me the great joys and blessing of waiting for the time and the season of all things.
